Most breaches don’t start with sophisticated attacks — they start with a weak password or a wrong click. At GPS Renewables, the infrastructure is robust, but as CSL puts it: “Human awareness is often the first line of defence against cyberattacks.”

Most organisations run on silos. CSL built the opposite — one backbone connecting finance, engineering, and operations. The mission: “to make GPS Renewables a company as innovative in technology as it is in climate.”

Sixteen people. Thirty-plus applications. No external vendors running the core. As Jithin Thankachan puts it: “Small team, real purpose — that’s CSL.” Every tool is built, owned, and maintained in-house — held together not by headcount, but by collaboration and a team that treats the work as more than just software.

Kerala has warmed 1.7°C since 1901 — and the hillsides are paying the price. At Haritha Keralam Summit 2026, Sachin Gracious made the case for something different: “Most warning systems react after the risk. We’re building tools that predict it.”

The standard move: buy an enterprise ERP, pay the licence, accept the limits. GPS Renewables didn’t. “Instead, we took a bolder path” — building on Odoo 17, open-source, fully customised, entirely in-house.

Three people. No systems. No playbook. That was CSL in 2022. As SVP Arun Madhavan put it: “The software team at GPSR is not treated as an IT Department, but as a Climate Lab.” Everything was built from scratch — and now the team is turning outward, toward software that responds to the climate crisis itself.
