Build what people want
Solving problems creates value. Very simply, diverting stubble from burning enables the production of biogas. Ethanol surplus is a problem, and EtJ SAF becomes a solution. All of us face problems every day that could be solved with new science, new tech, software, AI. We are creating the future as we build it.
It could be a problem you face regularly that, if solved, would make our lives better. It could be a new, exciting piece of technology or a new science that you want to test out. It could be a new technology that addresses a problem faced by someone else.
At the core, an idea becomes valuable to us when it solves a problem and makes things better for you, your team, GPS, and humanity. It is therefore important that we build solutions together.

At GPS we have developed a platform where anyone (yes, anyone) can submit an idea. Just sign up on the platform and submit what you have in mind.
All GPS employees will be able to see the ideas that have come in. We hope that more ideas will come, more problems will be identified, and more solutions will be built and deployed. A solution will have to be shepherded from an amorphous idea to a project plan on paper, to a functional prototype, to a FoAK (First-of-a-Kind) implementation and then deployed at multiple sites. We will learn from each other. We have to learn about the problems faced on the ground — all the way from feedstock collection and aggregation to biofuel production to logistics.
The platform allows you to OWN the idea and solution. A solution needs a team. You can form a team on the platform. You will also be enabled to ask for funds to build your prototype, test it out, refine it, and make it better.
The platform also allows HODs and senior members to view your idea and give feedback. Continuous feedback and iterative development are the formula for successfully translating an idea into a solution that delivers value for GPS.
At the time of publishing this newsletter, the Ignite Hackathon 2026 platform had 164 problems submitted, 107 shortlisted, 59 active teams and 34 solution proposals ready for review. Success needs an ecosystem, and we want to build and enable an innovation engine where the willing get the necessary support.
