GPS was built on a simple premise: that a company solving India’s energy needs should be built differently from the start. A company that is digitally enabled, scientifically rigorous, and willing to treat R&D not as a department, but as a discipline the whole company practises. That is why Aavishkar, our R&D department, has never stayed inside its own walls.

The last few years tested that principle against reality. Rapid growth meant Aavishkar spent much of its energy on fundamentals like yield and process stability. This keeps plants running better every day and builds something valuable: a precise understanding of what a biomethane company actually needs from its science, tested against real plants, not theory.

That groundwork is now becoming something bigger. This year, GPS Renewables won the EPC contract to build India’s first ethanol-to-jet (EtJ) sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) plant for NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) in Pudimadaka, Andhra Pradesh.

None of this stays inside R&D, and it shouldn’t. GPS’s general philosophy is that innovation should live across the whole company, not just inside one department.
