Cybersecurity:
Your First Line of Defence
At a time when CSL acts as the digital nervous system for GPS Renewables, our technological advancement is only as strong as our security. As we automate workflows and manage vast data, cybersecurity is no longer just an IT function, but a shared responsibility to protect our innovation, our reputation, and our planet.
This need originates from instances of cybercrime in today’s digital world – as threats continue to become more sophisticated to exploit vulnerabilities of individuals and organisations alike. To combat this, maintaining strong cybersecurity measures has become essential for both individuals and organisations.
Strategic Defence: Beyond the Basics
- One of the most common cybersecurity risks comes from simple mistakes, such as weak passwords, clicking on suspicious links, or using unsecured networks. These oversights lead to data breaches, identity theft, and financial loss.
- Practising basic cybersecurity habits such as using strong and unique passwords, enabling two-factor authentication, updating software, and being cautious with emails and downloads can reduce these risks.
- Cybersecurity is not only about protecting personal devices but also about safeguarding professional systems and sensitive information.
- Organisations must implement strong security policies, regularly monitor systems, and educate employees about cyber threats. Human awareness is often the first line of defence against cyberattacks.
- Another important aspect of cybersecurity is staying informed. As technology evolves, so do tactics used by cybercriminals. Being aware and continuous learning help recognise and respond to potential threats.
To truly act as a “First Line of Defence,” remain vigilant against phishing—where attackers create a false sense of urgency to solicit financial actions or data, always verify the sender’s email address and confirm unusual instructions by calling the person directly.
Cybersecurity Best Practices:
- Use strong, unique passwords for every account.
- Avoid downloading software from unknown sources.
- Report any suspicious activity to the IT team immediately.
By combining modern security tools with strong employee awareness, we ensure GPSR’s growth is built on a foundation of trust. Ultimately, cybersecurity is a shared responsibility. Every user plays a role in maintaining a safe digital environment. By adopting good security practices and staying vigilant, individuals and organisations can work together to build a more secure and resilient digital world.
Remember: in the fight against cyber threats, we are only as strong as our most informed user. Stay Safe. Stay Secure.
CSL’s Integrated Security Shield
To keep our infrastructure secure and efficient, our IT team continuously deploys modern security tools that work quietly in the background.
- Secure Remote Access: We use NetBird to create an encrypted “private underground highway” (VPN) between your laptop and our internal dashboards, file servers, and engineering tools. This ensures your data remains protected even on potentially insecure public Wi-Fi networks found in hotels or airports.
- Identity Management: Through Keycloak SSO, we implement a Single Sign-On service that centralises authentication. This includes Brute Force Protection, which temporarily locks accounts after several failed login attempts to thwart automated password-guessing attacks.
- Endpoint & Health Monitoring: All company laptops are shielded by Kaspersky Endpoint Security to block viruses and ransomware. Simultaneously, we use Fleet Device Management to monitor device health, ensuring all systems receive critical security patches and performance updates.
